Scifi, Hallmark and Pasta
One of my all-time favorite SciFi shows was the SyFy original series, Eureka. Of course, SyFy produced this series before it became the network that simply rebroadcasts old horror movies. Eureka features some of my favorite scifi actors and was brilliantly written and directed. Sometime in the middle of its run, the show replaced the actor portraying the AI law enforcement official, Deputy Andy with Kavan Smith. Kavan Smith had also appeared in Stargate Atlantis and several other scifi television series. Like many other actors from past scifi shows, Smith now regularly appears in Hallmark movies and series.
Okay, so let’s stick a bookmark here while I go for full disclosure. In my spare time, I follow (and participate in) politics. Without going into ANY detail, you might have noticed that it gets a bit heated and ugly. I, like most people, can only take so much so on those days when it gets stupid, repetitive, ugly, snarky, irritating or just plain boring, I switch over to something Hallmark. Honestly, there is really nothing better to counter the painful effects of politics than a little Hallmark. I record Home and Family every day, even though I probably only watch it a couple times a week. Oh, and yes…at Christmas time, I watch all the Christmas movies. Yes, I know they are formulaic, yes, I know how they are going to end five minutes into them and yes, they are generally low-budget productions. I love them anyway, so sue me. Well, don’t really because that wouldn’t be nice.
Friday morning I didn’t even bother turning on the news and went straight to my recorded episode of Home and Family. I was delighted to see that Kavan Smith was guesting and showing us how to make homemade, from scratch, Fettuccini Carbonaro. He was fun and made it look pretty easy.
So…I ordered the special flour and sometime today, (I love Amazon, don’t you?) it should arrive. If it gets here in time, I will attempt this recipe myself.
